DAVAO CITY – The third nominee for the Progressive partylist Gabriela is a woman leader from Cotabato City.

Standard-bearer and first nominee, Gabriela Women’s Party Representative Emmi De Jesus, identified the third nominee as Bai Ali Indayla.

The other nominee in the second spot is Metro Manila Gabriela spokesperson, Arlene Brosas.

The group filed Thursday its certificate of candidacy for the 2016 partylist elections.

The group marched from San Agustin Church to the Commission on Elections office in Intramuros, Manila.

Gabriela Women’s Party has had representation in the House of Representatives since 2004 and is touted as the only women’s party elected in any parliament in the world.

“We remain humbled by the continued support of women from all over the country and overseas and we will continue to serve with utmost militance. Despite attacks on our ranks, the vilification, harassment and abuses, we will not be cowed. We will continue to stand for women peasants, workers, migrant women and indigenous women,” said De Jesus.

Gabriela has filed more than 33 bills and 90 resolutions in the 16th Congress and has actively pushed for the legislation of landmark laws for women such as the Magna Carta of Women and the Anti-Violence Against Women and Children Act. (davaotoday.com)
