May. 05, 2015

DAVAO CITY – Indonesian lawyers of overseas Filipino worker, Mary Jane Veloso, reaffirmed on Monday their commitment with Veloso’s private lawyers here.

The lawyers from both countries met in a teleconference, and discussed the legal steps and options on the suspension of Veloso’s execution. They also affirmed their mutual commitment to share documents and information regarding her case from both ends.

The National Union of Peoples’ Lawyers serves as the private lawyers of the Velosos.

As far as the Indonesian lawyers know, the Philippine government welcomes all help “from anybody.” They expressed again their sincerest appreciation for all the help NUPL is contributing to the case of their common client.

In a press release on Tuesday, the NUPL said the Indonesia lawyers “actively engage and positively embrace the role of NUPL in the performance of their professional duties”.

It said, their professional service to Mary Jane and her family is endorsed by the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP), and actively supported by the UN-accredited International Association of Democratic Lawyers (IADL).
