Sara to skip SONA after doc advised her to rest

Jul. 25, 2016

DAVAO CITY — Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte will not be able to attend the first State of the Nation Address of her father, President Rodrigo Duterte today, July 25.

City Information Officer Jefry Tupas said the mayor arrived in Manila early morning Monday and went straight to St. Luke’s Hospital for a medical check-up.

“She was advised complete rest, at least for a couple of days by her doctor. But there is nothing to worry. The mayor is doing well now,” Tupas said.

Tupas said Sara is supposed to represent her mother, Elizabeth Zimmerman, and her brothers Vice Mayor Paolo and Sebastian. He said the mayor will be represented by her husband, lawyer Manases Carpio.

“That she will not able to attend the Sona is something that the mayor deeply regrets as she wants to be with the President during this very important occasion and proud moment for the Filipinos and the Philippines,” said Tupas. (davaotoday.com)
