Solon hits De Lima’s PDAF ‘selectivity’

May. 08, 2015

DAVAO CITY – A partylist lawmaker today said Justice Secretary Leila De Lima’s refusal to pursue cases against members of Liberal Party known to have transactions with Janet Lim-Napoles “is tantamount to committing grave injustice against the public”.

Gabriela Rep. Luzviminda Ilagan said De Lima’s decision could also be seen as a “dereliction of duties”.

“This shameless selectivity screams what many have known all along—that Aquino’s anti-corruption campaign is a sham and that the slogan ‘walang mahirap kung walang corrupt’ (no one is poor if no one is corrupt) is but an empty election catchphrase. Aquino’s Tuwid na Daan (Straight Path) is headed nowhere,” said Ilagan.

Ilagan urged De Lima to immediately prosecute and file the third batch of charges against those who have been accused of using public funds created by Napoles as well as those linked to the Malampaya fund scam.

De Lima recently declared she was unsure whether the third batch of Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) cases will be filed before her term ends as there are “very important matters” she has to attend to.
