  1. Dear Sirs,

    From the 13th of December 2006 to the 16th of December 2006 – the Ministers in charges of Housing from nearly all the Asian and Pacfic countries met in New Delhi at the First Asian Housing Ministers’ Conference, New Delhi to formulate a basis to address the problem of slums and poverty in Asia. The DELHI DECLARATION followed thereafter. More information could be obtained from the Ministry of Housing of the Government of India in New Delhi through your Embassy in New Delhi most probably.

    The International Cooperative Housing Foundation for Asia and the Pacific (ICHFAP) which has its Secretariat at New Delhi was invited to participate in the Ministers’ Conference which included most Ministers from the Asian countries and Senior Diplomats and Senior Civil Servants involved with eradicating slums and poverty. The ICHFAP has in its fold over 100,000 Housing Cooperatives by direct and indirect membership from a number of countries in Asia. Details on ICHFAP can be obtained from the Web Site at http//:www.ichfap.net or the GOOGLES browsrer on ICHFAP.

    I hope that all Housing Cooperatives in the Philipines would become members of the ICHFAP to benefit from the ‘networking’ and the expertise available in the fold of ICHFAP and in this regard and for this purpose the address to contact is:

    DR M L KHURANA
    Secretary General
    The International Cooperative Housing Foundation for Asia & the Pacific
    6/6A, SIRI FORT INSTITUTIONAL AREA
    AUGUST KRANT MARG, 110-049, INDIA.
    Email: nchf2001@yahoo.com; ichfap.secretariat@gmail.com; railcoop@gmail.com;

    I hope that this message augurs well for the eradication of slums and poverty in whatever way possible in the years to come.

    A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ONE AND ALL

    PARAMAS VARAN Kandiah
    President, ICHFAP
    and
    Deputy President, The Cooperative Union of Malaysia.
