DAVAO CITY — The Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry is focusing on the development of micro, small and medium-scale enterprises, which comprise about 99% of registered businesses her in Davao.
Of the 31,000 registered businesses here in Davao City, only 200 are considered big companies the rest are SMEs and micro-enterprises. said Atty. Domingo Duerme, President of DCCCI during the Government in Action media forum held last July 5 at the Association of Regional Executives of National Agencies (ARENA) office in Catitipan.
He said the DCCI is helping them with trainings particularly on capability-building and in facilitating various financial windows which these enterprises could avail.
He said they are also helping in advocacy particularly on the aspect of ordinances and laws which would affect or benefit business.
Atty. Duerme said that DCCCI is growing with its present membership of 400 individual and corporate members, and added that about 50 individuals and corporate entities are applying for membership in the chamber.
He said the business climate in the city is bullish as it is attracting investors and investments. Duerme hopes that peace and order would be stable to sustain its attractiveness to new investments.
Duerme also noted the potential of a huge market in China, which he saw during his visit there a few weeks ago. (PIA XI/RG Alama)
