Bill on regularization of class sizes pushed

Feb. 02, 2015

The House Committee on Basic Education will begin the public hearings on House Bill 443 which aims to regulate class sizes on Tuesday.

The regularization proposed under HB 443 or The Public School Class Size Law of 2013 includes setting a standard class size of 35 students per teacher, prohibition of class sizes exceeding 50 students, and the provision of a “large class honorarium” of 1% of the teacher’s daily rate for every student in excess of the standard class size.

Proponent ACT Teachers Partylist representative Antonio Tinio said they are encouraging the public to submit actual data and testimonies on class size.
