DAVAO CITY – The Davao City Police Office will implement the Operation Plan (Oplan) Sita to visitors during the Kadayawan Festival as part of its security measures.

DCPO spokesperson Police Senior Inspector Milgrace Driz said they held a coordinating conference with other agencies on Tuesday to come up with a complete security plan for the Kadayawan.

Driz said that bringing of backpacks, canisters, bottled water, and deadly weapon is prohibited.

She said they will accost visitors who are wearing caps and sunglasses within the activity areas as these will block the view of the Close Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras.

Driz said this is to ensure “maximum security” in all activity areas of the Kadayawan.

She said they are encouraging the public to cooperate as the police will be implementing “stop and freeze” order against suspicious looking individuals.

“Pahimangno lang pod namo sa tanang mga katawhan, we will really implement “stop and freeze” (or Oplan Sita). Yun po ang inemphasize ng ating City Director, so pag may kahina-hinala we will immediately stop and freeze them (We warn the public that we will really “stop and freeze” them. That was emphasized by our City Director (Vicente Danao Jr)),” said Driz during Wednesday’s AFP-PNP press conference.

Driz said they deployed 100 personnel from the Regional Public Safety Battalion, 600 from unified force multipliers and 900 from the barangay’s peace and order unit.

“This will be the augmented to the Davao City Police office for the purpose of the Kadayawan festival,” she said.

Meanwhile, the Task Force Davao is also training their troops in preparation for the Kadayawan.

Captain Ernest Carolina of the TFD said their troops are undergoing intensified training for the “what-ifs” scenario that may occur during the festival.

He said they already asked for augmentation from the 10th Infantry Division including the Philippine Navy.

“With augmentation, we can deploy as much as 300 personnel for Kadayawan,” said Carolina.(davaotoday.com)
