DAVAO CITY – The City Government of Tagum destroyed Monday an estimate of 500 modified mufflers, locally known as “bora-bora” which were impounded by the Tagum City Police from April this year.
The mufflers valued at P800,000 were flattened by a steamroller type of heavy equipment during the flag raising ceremony.
The installation and use of modified mufflers on motorcycles create excessive and irritating sound resulting to noise pollution, which is in violation of RA 4135 which states that “no motor vehicle shall be operated in such manner as to cause it to emit or make any unnecessary or disagreeable odor, smoke or noise.” (davaotoday.com)
