DAVAO CITY — Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) standard bearer Rodrigo Duterte is now tied with presidential aspirant, Senator Grace Poe in the latest survey by the Social Weather Station (SWS).
Duterte is up by 4% from 20 to 24 in the February 5-7 SWS survey, while Poe has retained her standing.
Meanwhile, Vice President Jejomar Binay still leads at 29 percent. The United Nationalist Alliance bet, however, has slipped by 3 points from 32% in January 8-10.
The survey was conducted at a time when Duterte was facing three disqualification cases, all of which were dismissed by the Commission on Elections (Comelec).
Duterte promised to address crime and corruption in the first six months if he gets elected.
Peter Laviña, head of the media group for Duterte and running mate, Senator Alan Peter Cayetano, said the latest survey “proves that both presidential and vice presidential candidates have regained momentum as the election campaign enters the second week.”
The SWS survey has a margin of error of plus or minus 3 points, indicating a still wild and take you pick presidential race.
“We are hopeful that as the campaign progresses, we would be able to continue this upward trend and gain more supporters,” Laviña said in a statement on Monday, February 15.
“This is proof of the rising clamor for genuine change (Tunay Na Pagbabago). Our country is mired in increasing drugs, crime, corruption and poverty.”
Duterte’s rating was the lowest in the beginning of SWS’s pre-election survey in November 2015. (davaotoday.com)
