China: Tibetan herders’ livelihood in jeopardy

(Washington, DC, June 11, 2007) ? The Chinese government is forcibly
relocating Tibetan herders to urban areas and farmland, destroying their
livelihoods and way of life, and denying them access to justice for
violations of their rights, Human Rights Watch said in a report released

Archbishop says Negros killings of farmers underscores need for full CARP implementation

Sweden donates P100 million to beef up Philippines’ drive against tax cheats

MANILA — Sweden has donated P100 million to beef up the government?s revenue collection programs, including its campaign against tax cheats.

Swedish Ambassador to the Philippines Annika Markovic disclosed her government?s donation during her farewell call on President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo at Malacanang?s Music Room this afternoon.

Philippines honors Campbell, Peace Corps with Golden Heart Award

MANILA — President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo posthumously awarded today the Orden ng Gintong Puso (Order of the Golden Heart) with the rank of Officer to the late US Peace Corps Volunteer Julia Campbell who died in Ifugao last April.
