Success Talks
An added feature in this years event is a talk show dubbed Success Talks.
This shall feature successful OTOP entrepreneurs from the different regions who will talk on how they made their business grow and be where they are now, or simply, their success story.
This can be a learning experience for aspiring entrepreneurs and business students or source of information for the media or mass communication students who are the target of this event.
Training/Seminar Series
Aimed to enhance the skills and capability of the SMEs, two training programs shall be conducted.
One will present the result of the recent survey of AC Nielsen on Consumer Behavior and Preferences slated on July 2 at KCC Mall in Gensan. This hopes to enlighten the entrepreneurs and align their production to what is preferred by the consuming public. This is organized by APFTI.
The other is Training on Cleaner Production Technology which shall present and discuss among others the possibilities of reusing the respective wastes of companies or entrepreneurs.
This is an enrolled activity of the Region 12 SMED Council and shall be conducted by ITDI-DOST from June 30 July 1, 2007.
Buyers and Sellers Night
Recognizing the contribution of the producers and the institutional buyers in the success of the OTOP Island Fair, a night is allocated for this purpose.
Informal discussions and transactions may be initially forged and formalized during the Business Matching itself.
Region 12 Tour
The Fairs host, Region 12, boasts itself with rich and pure culture of indigenous groups like the Maguindanaons, the Tbolis, Blaans and others;
Nature and adventure at its best can be experienced in areas like boating on Lake Sebu or exploring its seven falls; trekking to the grandeur of countrys highest peak, Mt Apo;
enjoying the white sand beach of Gumasa; deep sea diving in Sarangani among others.
Converging Efforts
The Department of Trade & Industry 12 spearheads the conduct of Yamang Mindanao OTOP Island Fair and is supported by APFTI, Local Government of General Santos City, Department of Tourism and the Small and Medium Enterprise Development (SMED) Council.
The SMED Council is composed of similar institutions supporting OTOP too. These are DOST, DA, TESDA, DILG, DENR, DOLE, DOT and PIA.
