Davao’s Catholic schools gear up for environment summit

DAVAO CITY — “Puno ng Buhay sa Ilog na Buhay.” The Davao Association of Colleges and Schools (DACS) prepares and chooses that theme for the second environment summit on July 27-28, 2007.

The first gathering was held successfully last year with the support of the various colleges and universities in Davao, Digos, Tagum and Mati (DADITAMA) regions.

Mindanao screening of foreign scholarships now handled by DepEd, CHED and TESDA

DAVAO CITY — NEDA Region XI formally turned over the screening of Mindanao nominees for foreign scholarships to DepEd XI, CHED XI and TESDA XI. This is pursuant to Executive Order No. 402, s. 2005 which abolished the Special Committee on Scholarship and transferred its functions to the DepEd for basic education, CHED for higher education and TESDA for non-degree courses. The turn-over ceremony was held last June 26 at the Grand Regal Hotel in Davao City.

USEP opens basic Japanese, Mandarin courses

DAVAO CITY — In July 2007, the University of Southeastern Philippines through its Institute of Languages (ILs) shall offer three special language courses: Basic 1 Japanese, Basic 2 Japanese and Basic 1 Mandarin. These programs focus on conversational and functional Japanese and Mandarin languages.
