The National Housing Authority (NHA) Davao Region admitted it is short of 13,525 housing units that it was supposed to complete by March next year for the survivors of Typhoon Pablo.

Over 20,000 survivors from different man-made and natural calamities gathered in the city by way of an ecumenical prayer and march rally at the Rizal avenue to mark the commemoration of 1st year anniversary of Supertyphoon Yolanda last November 8.

Survivors of different disasters will hold a national conference on the commemoration of the first year anniversary of typhoon Yolanda (international name Haiyan) in Tacloban city this coming November 8.

A climate change official warned that authorities here should prepare for a scenario of prolonged drought in the region up to the first quarter of 2015.

“In Davao, trees are not enough to absorb the carbon emissions if the coal power plant in Davao will operate considering that 40 percent of carbon emissions are contributed by coal power plants.”
