Dodong Solis, Davao’s crusading radio broadcaster, dies

Dodong Solis, a crusading veteran radio commentator for nearly five decades, known for his morning program “Straight to the Point” and current manager of the independent Radyo ni Juan Network, died Tuesday of cardiac arrest, a relative relayed. His family has yet to make a statement on the circumstance of his death as of Thursday.

Human rights watchdog slams gov’t for arrest, killing of elderly

The human rights watchdog Karapatan has slammed Monday the government for targeting the elderly following the arrest of the 61-year-old Davao City-based media personality Margarita Valle in Misamis Oriental and the killing of a 65-year-old land reform advocate Felipe Dacal-Dacal in Negros Occidental.

Don’t force media to become witness in anti-drug ops – NUJP

The National Union of Journalists of the Philippines called for the repeal of section 21 of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act which requires the presence of media as among three representatives in the inventory and documentation of confiscated drugs and paraphernalia in raids and apprehension.
