DAVAO CITY — The Federation of Davao Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FDCCI) has backed the call of the Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (DCCCII) in its appeal to President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo to recall the new appointee to the Regional Tripartite Wage Productivity Board (RTWPB).

Education Department Secretary Jesli Lapus seems to be hallucinating
for blaming the country’s population as the one causing the shortage
of classrooms in the country.
President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and her minions are beginning to
sound alike. First it was the Palace Queen who put the blame on the
citizen’s luxuries and ordered a control on using short message
sending or texts and cigarette smoking to avoid experiencing hunger.

It’s as predictable as it is insensitive — the Arroyo administration’s reaction to the hostage drama involving Jun Ducat, an owner ot a daycare center in Manila who took hostage 32 of his students and two teachers and complained about corruption in the Philippine government and the failure of the administration to provide adequate education. According to Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita, the incident puts the country in a bad light, blaming the intense media coverage of the situation.
Never mind that the drama actually highlights one of the more depressing aspects of the Philippines — the deterioration of its education system and the sheer inability of poor Filipinos to send their children to school.
