Military denounced for ‘lies’ on Grecil

Kabiba Foundation, a child advocate, said Brigadier General Carlos Holganza, chief of 1001st Infantry Brigade, was lying when he said that Grecil was killed by NPA fire. ?It?s a big lie,? the group said, citing testimonies that the soldiers had strafed and ransacked the girl's house.

Philippines: Journalist released after 10 hours in detention

MANILA — Journalist Jofelle Tesorio, who was ordered jailed by a local judge yesterday morning, was released after almost ten hours in detention.

Tesorio was brought to a women’s detention facility in Camp Karingal in Quezon City shortly after posting a P20,000 bail bond about 9 a.m. Thursday morning.
