DAVAO CITY – A local official from the town of Caraga in Davao Oriental has filed a resolution urging the local government to regulate the staging of lewd programs after the town’s acting mayor allegedly sponsored an event showing “sensual dancing with suggestive sexual remarks.”
Acting Vice Mayor Daisy Jane Polancos told Davao Today that last Thursday, Acting Mayor of Caraga, Belshazzar Sobrecarey “spearheaded” the Bikini Babe 2015 in the Municipal Park just across a local church.
Polancos said conservative audiences, including teachers, called her attention and asked her why the officials allowed such event.
Polancos described the audience as “very professional” who were disappointed with the show.
She said there were also those “men who appeared that they enjoy the show.”
However, she said they were surprised of the staging of the event, adding that the local officials “were not there” during the show which started at around 11:00 pm in front of San Salvador del Mundo church.
“In fact, we have no involvement in that activity,” she said.
“We were neither informed, nor consulted. Kung ma-inform man kami halimbawa, siyempre we will not approve it (If for example we were informed, we will not approve it),” Polancos said.
Polancos said “the public clamor challenged me to file a resolution condemning the holding of the event.” She said they are also mulling for a local ordinance to regulate lewd shows similar to Bikini Babe 2015.
She said the “Resolution Expressing Strong Condemnation on the Public Staging of Bikini Babe 2015 on July 16” was approved on Wednesday afternoon.
Polancos, who also heads the local committee on women and children said children were present during the show “without the benefit of parental guidance”.
Polancos said the Caraga town is composed of 17 barangays and 90 percent of the population belong to the Mandaya tribe.(davaotoday.com)
