DAVAO CITY – This city is again is once again nominated for the Presidential Award for the Most Child Friendly City.

Maria Louisa T. Bermudo, head of the City Social Services and Development Office announced on Thursday, April 14 that the city is one of the five finalists in the highly-urbanized cities category of the award.

“The other nominated cities are Baguio City, Cagayan de Oro, Mandaluyong City and Bacolod City,” she said.

She explained that the awarding was supposed to be scheduled last April 5, but it was moved due to the unavailability of President Benigno Aquino III that time.

Bermudo said that until now there is still no fix date of the awarding and the declaration of the winner will be announced during the awarding.

The child-friendly award was launched by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) to promote the need to protect children’s rights among provinces, cities, and municipalities.

Davao City garnered the Most Child-Friendly City in the country under the Highly-Urbanized Category in year 2013 and 2014. (davaotoday.com)
