DAVAO CITY — Police forces have started to vote as absentee voting begun today, April 27 nationwide.

DCPO spokesperson Police Chief Inspector Milgrace Driz  said 72 voters have applied and 60 were approved. “They are now in the police conference room to vote,”  Driz said during Wednesday’s AFP-PNP regular press conference.

Police officers who have failed to file their biometrics, who were not able to vote for three consecutive national or local elections, and whose names cannot be found in the Comelec list, are barred from participating in the absentee voting.

Meanwhile, the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) declared that they are ready to secure the voters and the voting process on the May 9 national elections.

“We are 95 percent ready (for) the elections. The remaining five percent is a room for improvement,” Driz said citing their preparations during their joint command conference on Tuesday, April 26.

“We are ready with the deployment and security of polling precinct for the voters and the vote counting machine (VCM),” Driz said.  Two police teams will secure the VCM.

Maximum deployment was done in election watchlist areas (EWAs) of Paquibato, Baguio and Marilog districts in Davao City.

“We have to consider the two barangays of Baguio district, six barangays from Marilog and six barangays from Paquibato,” Driz said.

The VCM will be transported from Luzon to Sasa port where the Comelec warehouse is located before it is delivered to the City Treasurer’s Office. (davaotoday.com)
