Nov. 17, 2016

DAVAO CITY, Philippines — President Rodrigo Duterte has expressed support to the idea of establishing a new world order with Russia and China amid global uncertainty with US’ President-elect Donald Trump.

“You know, if China and Russia will decide to create a new order, I will be the first to join,” Duterte told reporters here Thursday before leaving for Lima, Peru.

Duterte is set to join 200 global leaders for the 24th meeting of economic leaders of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation.

He also railed the United Nation for being mum amid the global wars instigated by the US.

“There used to be called a League of Nations before, it was in Hague, the predecessor of the UN. It used to be called League of Nations. Nothing happened, there’s still war. United Nations, they weren’t able to do anything. Series of war: Vietnam, Taliban. It’s still happening,” he said.

The tough-talking president has hinted that he might follow Moscow’s lead and withdraw from the International Criminal Court following its criticisms on his campaign against illegal drugs.

Just this week, Russia’s President Vladimir Putin withdrew its signature for being a State Party from the the founding statute of the court, saying the ICC has been “one-sided and inefficient.”

“They’ve withdrawn, I might follow. Why? They are only battering us, the small countries. Thousands are being killed, they are bombing children, women, for five years now in Aleppo, Mosul. The people there have not experienced any break from the bombing…” Duterte said. (davaotoday.com)
