No liquor, no leisure activities to remain in Davao GCQ

May. 14, 2020

DAVAO CITY, Philippines – The city will still implement the liquor ban and prohibit leisure activities once the city is placed under general community quarantine (GCQ) starting May 16.

Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio made this point Wednesday afternoon in a radio interview, saying they will still enforce strictly the restrictions set in the current enhanced community quarantine.

She said that the city will still observe a strict liquor ban 24 hours a day, which was among the rules set prohibiting the selling of liquor products during Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ).

Duterte also reiterates the restriction for people to conduct leisure activities, and to have mass gatherings of more than 10 people.

Duterte said that several establishments and offices will resume its operation in the GCQ as set under the guidelines set by the Inter-Agency Task Force section 3 on the Implementation of Community Quarantine in the Philippines and the Department of Trade and Industry Memorandum Circular 20-22.

What are prohibited to operate under GCQ are establishments, amusement and leisure places that promote mass gatherings such as gyms, fitness studios, sports facilities, entertainment places, destinations, and tourist spots, travel agencies, gambling and betting, and those in personal care services.
