DDS’ attacks on Atenews raises defense on press freedom

The student publication of Ateneo de Davao University, Atenews, was the subject of online attacks coming mostly from the school's alumni when it posted a joint statement with four other Ateneo university publications in support of the arrest and trial of former President Rodrigo Duterte in the International Criminal Court.

Asteroid named after Davao engineering student

During the International Asteroid Day last June 30, Ateneo de Davao University robotics engineering senior Nadine Antonette Obafial was among those honored with an asteroid named after her.  This was announced by the university on its Facebook page last July 2.

Ateneo de Davao pushes climate change awareness, but dean okays coal energy

While this campaign points out coal energy as a major threat to climate and the abrupt change in weather, the university’s Dean of Arts and Sciences and astrophysicist, Fr. Dan Mc Namara, however, considers coal-fired power plant “okay” for the “short term” to meet the city’s power demand.
