Independence Day: AFP vows to liberate Marawi City on June 12

As the entire nation is set to celebrate the 119th Independence day on June 12, the Armed Forces of the Philippines has set it as deadline to liberate the besieged Marawi City from the ISIS-linked Maute group.

The Three Stars and a Sun

If I may correctly recite the Sibika at Kultura lessons during my elementary years, the three stars in the flag represent the three major islands and the colors blue and red represent peace over war.  It affirms our belief, our conviction, our choice, that peace should reign in our land.
