Securing regional waters: How much progress?

At last week's 6th IISS Asian Security Summit in Singapore, top officials from Asian and Southeast Asian nations discussed maritime security. Defense secretary Hermogenes Ebdane Jr. represented the Philippines. The summit was crucial for Mindanao because of its proximity to maritime areas that have been facing threats from terrorists and pirates. Philippines: SC Justice Speaks on The Anti-Terrorism Law

MANILA — Another Supreme Court magistrate has joined the public discussion on terrorism.

Supreme Court Justice Angelina Sandoval-Gutierrez recently described the Human Security Act of 2007, otherwise known as ?The Philippine Anti-Terrorism Law,? as a ?novel and complex law? and ?unchartered waters only a few have sailed.?
