Davao seen to forge better relationship with China

DAVAO CITY, Philippines — After ​Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte visited China on October 26, a Shanghai City official said he would look forward for a better relations with Davao.

In a Philippines Information Agency dispatch, Shanghai Vice Mayor Chen Yin assured that the visit of Davao City Vice-Mayor Paolo Duterte in China would result to more exchanges between the two cities.

“I am sure that with great support from our governments, we can make contributions to our relationship and cooperation,” Chen Yin said, as quoted saying in the dispatch.

Duterte, on the other hand, expressed hope to partner with the government of China and Shanghai “in the realization of our objectives as a developed, progressive, and peaceful city.”

Davao City’s investment potentials in tourism, agriculture, property development, energy, transportation infrastructure, and information and communications technology, were among the industries cited by Duterte during his visit.

The five-day visit aims to explore possible trade and investment opportunities between Davao and Shangai. (davaotoday.com)
