DAVAO CITY – Members of environment advocate groups will open a fair on Tuesday in observance of the International Earth Day this month.

The Green Ideas Fair, with the theme “It’s Our Turn to Lead”, encourages the public to take the lead “in redefining what environmental progress means in all aspects of society.”

Chinkie Pelino, advocacy coordinator for Interface Development Interventions, Inc. (Idis) said they will showcase researches with positive impact for the environment.

“Throughout the world, citizens are taking the initiative in showing world leaders how to make a green impact in society. Here in Davao, we are going to showcase ideas and researches which can be used to make a positive impact in our goal of realizing a green and sustainable Davao City,” said Pelino.

The event is organized by Idis, Davao Doctors College (DDC), Davao City Water District (DCWD), Panalipdan Southern Mindanao, MASIPAG Mindanao, Ecoteneo and the Office of Councilor Leonardo Avila III.

Pelino said their group will also present the results of its survey on the organic farming practitioners here and on the rainwater catchment systems used by business establishments in a public forum.

The event will be opened to the public on Tuesday (April 21), from 8:00 am – 2:00 pm, at the Davao Doctors College, Malvar Street. (davaotoday.com)
