DAVAO CITY — Around 100 international scouts will participate on the 16th National Scout Jamboree which will be held on October 24-30 in Tagum City.

Tagum City Mayor Allan Rellon declared earlier today that the city is ready to host around 15,000 scouts for the 16th National Scout Jamboree which will be held on October 24-30.

“More than 15,000 scouts all over the country have confirmed, but we can roughly say that around 15,000 will actually attend the scout jamboree,” Rellon said during the Tagum Biz Talk Tuesday.

He said the international scouts will be coming from Ghana, Malaysia and other countries and will camp alongside the scouts from the Philippines.

The national event will be held at the Energy Park in Apokon, Tagum City.

Rellon said that the city allocated more than P7-million to mobilize the scouting jamboree from the General Fund and Special Education Fund.

“The amount (is) allotted more on the infrastructure and operating expenses for the security, working staff and national service team,” he emphasized.

Rellon also said around 500 security personnel from the Philippine National Police and Armed Forced of the Philippines will be deployed in the city during the duration of the jamboree. (davaotoday.com)
