More police visibility in schools sought in Davao Norte

Sep. 23, 2016

TAGUM CITY, Philippines — The Department of Education in Davao del Norte urged the law enforcement authorities here to increase the police visibility inside the public schools in the province to ensure the safety of students, teachers and personnel.

“We have been requesting that high police visibility be done also inside schools,” said Josephine Fadul, schools division superintendent of DepEd Davao del Norte during the Provincial Peace and Order Council Meeting held at the Bulwagan ng Lalawigan on Monday, September 19.

Fadul’s statement came in the aftermath of the bombing on September 2 in Davao City and the subsequent bomb threats which disrupted classes.

The education official reminded the school officials “to intensify security and be extra vigilant all the times.”

Fadul also encouraged school officials to report information on terror threats to the police and to avoid spreading unverified information especially through text messages. (davaotoday.com)
