DAVAO CITY– A soldier was killed while two others were wounded when soldiers of 39th Infantry Battalion of the Army encountered with the New People’s Army in Sitio Tibaol, Barangay Sinoron, Sta.Cruz, Davao del Sur Friday noon.
Captain Alberto Caber of the Eastern Mindanao Command said the incident happened around 12:10 p.m.
Army troops recovered an M16A1 rifle, two rifle grenades, three unexploded improvised explosive device (IED), ammunition, assorted medicines, a radio, documents and backpacks at the encounter site. Pursuit operations are on-going as of this report, Caber said.
The wounded soldiers are now in stable condition at Camp Panacan Station Hospital.
