Bayan Muna representative Carlos Isagani Zarate condemned Monday the “massacre” of 60 pine trees in Baguio City by SM Prime Holdings last January 17.
Zarate said Bayan Muna is not “anti-development” but supports sustainable development which considers the environment and communities.
Zarate said the project of the company is “testament to its hypocrisy” saying the cutting of the trees occurred while Pope Francis visited the country and even met with Filipino families in SM Mall of Asia Arena.
Zarate said they will ask the House Committee on Ecology to conduct an investigation on the said incident.
