DAVAO CITY – The 2015 Miss Earth Philippines-Air Chanel Olive Thomas will be here to open the Eco-Fest on June 24-30. The event will showcase “greening initiatives” of the city with a week-long exhibit and presentations of barangay-led ecological initiatives.
Thomas, a Filipino-Australian model, will join prominent city officials in a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the opening of an environmental exhibit at the People’s Park at 2:00 pm on June 24. The week-long exhibit will showcase the award-winning green initiatives of Dabawenyos. Executive director of Miss Earth Philippines Foundation, AJ Mira will also be present.
Other activities during the week include the launching of the next award cycle of the Lunhaw Awards on June 25. The 2016 Lunhaw Awards is a homegrown annual search for the city’s best green initiatives.
The event is organized by the City Environment and Natural Resources (Cenro), the Watershed Management Council (WMC), the Interface Development Interventions, Inc. (Idis), the Samahan ng mga Musikeros sa Dabaw (Samadhi) and other government and non-government agencies.
