Nominations for national children’s book awards now open

DAVAO CITY – The National Book Development Board (NBDB) announced the opening of the nominations for the 4th National Children’s Book Awards.

Ihna Marie Embalzado, project development officer of NBDB said the Best Reads of 2016 will give recognition to the best children’s books published during the years 2014 and 2015.

The awards is open to all NBDB-registered publishers, authors and illustrators.

Books should also be written by a Filipino and written in Filipino or English.

According to NBDB’s guidelines children’s books also refer to books made for 0-19 years old readers.

“These include works like fiction, non-fiction, picture books, graphic novels or comic books expressly labeled for children,” said the NBDB.

The deadline for submission of nominations is on February 12, 5:00 pm.

Winners of the National Children’s Book Award will be announced during the celebration of the National Children’s Book Day on July 3.

Embalzado said the NCBA is in partnership with the Philippine Board on Books for Young People.
