Philippines: SMART Signs MOA with DepEd to Include More Schools in ICT Program

[MANILA/APRIL 2007] Leading wireless services provider Smart Communications, Inc. (SMART) will expand the Smart Schools Program to include 50 more public high schools and 30 public elementary schools nationwide this year.

The expansion of the Smart Schools Program was formalized during the signing of an addendum to a Memorandum of Agreement between SMART, the Department of Education and the Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP).

Philippines: BIR’s Bunag Tells Davao Grads to Dream

DAVAO CITY — In powder blue toga, the 460 boys and girls ages 16 to 17 who belong to the 58th graduating high school students of the Ateneo de Davao University were honored by the presence of Bureau of Internal Revenue Commissioner Jose Mario C. Bunag as their commencement speaker and disclosed to them the plans of his bureau for the youth.

Bunag who is also a Blue Knight being a graduate of the Ateneo de Manila University came to Davao City to share his experiences and his commitment while serving the government.

Davao Light-Assisted Lumad Scholars Get College Degree

Three of 20 indigenous people (IP) or lumads who are assisted in their college studies by the Aboitiz-owned Davao Light and Power Company through the Mindanawon Initiatives for Cultural Dialogue (Mindanawon) graduated last March 24, while one finished her course last October but joined the graduation rites also last month.

AIM Brings 4-Day Course to Davao

The Asian Institute of Management (AIM) brings to Davao a four-day course that would help improve management capabilities of mostly Davao family-owned companies.
