HCDC opens 250 slots for Maritime Education, offer employment

The Holy Cross of Davao College, Inc. (HCDC) Dean of the Maritime Education Program (MEP) Capt. Fernando Moriel said that the administration is up to sign a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Magsaysay Institute of Shipping, Inc (MIS)/ Fairmont Shipping and Mitsui O.S.K. Lines.

CHED, Colleges Suit Curricula to Needs of Industry

DAVAO CITY — The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) together with some colleges in the region have responded to the clamor of most industries which lamented the lack of skills of graduates which are needed in the workplace.

In a technical panel meeting with industry representatives, the latter complained about the mismatch of the skills acquired by graduates as to the required skills needed by the various industries .

Get a Degree Without Going to School (Sort of)

DAVAO CITY — This form of distance learning gives hope to competent but nondegree holders to stay in their job and earn that college degree.

Called ETEEAP (Expanded Tertiary Education Equivalency and Accreditation Program), the educational scheme is being offered by the University of Southeastern Philippines (USEP) in Davao City.

Lapus Hallucinating on State of Education: Youth Group

Letter to the Editor:

Education Department Secretary Jesli Lapus seems to be hallucinating
for blaming the country’s population as the one causing the shortage
of classrooms in the country.

President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and her minions are beginning to
sound alike. First it was the Palace Queen who put the blame on the
citizen’s luxuries and ordered a control on using short message
sending or texts and cigarette smoking to avoid experiencing hunger.
