Peasant leader nabbed in Kapalong town

A leader of peasant group Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas was arrested Tuesday morning while facilitating a farmer's dialogue with land owners in Kapalong, Davao del Norte, a human rights group spokesperson said.

Mayor Rodrigo Duterte in his Sunday program Gikan sa Masa para sa Masa said that he will conduct another round of dialog between the City Engineering Office and nongovernment organizations regarding the planned cutting of some 500 trees to rehabilitate the city's main drain canal along Dacudao street.

Local officials to decide fate of trees in Dacudao canal area

City officials will deliberate this week on what to do with hundreds of trees lining the drainage canal area in Dacudao Avenue which they said is damaging the structure of the canal.
