DAVAO CITY, Philippines — Frequent flyers here will soon reach top tourist destinations in Mindanao and the Visayas in a shorter travel time after national flag carrier Philippine Airlines announced the opening of at least five domestic flights from Davao City.
During the first Davao Turismo Conference held here Friday, Val Suarez, area head for Mindanao said PAL would fly to Tagbilaran in Bohol province, Zamboanga City and Cagayan de Oro City from the Davao airport.
Suarez said the Davao-Tagbilaran flight would be available four times a week; Davao-Zamboanga flight would be scheduled thrice a week and there would be a daily flight from Davao to Cagayan de Oro City.
Flights from Davao to Clark in Pampanga will resume in December this year with four flights a week.
Also in December are the opening of the routes of Davao to Cebu and Siargao to Cebu; and Camiguin to Cebu. He said flights from Davao to Siargao via Cebu will also open
“The opening of flights from Siargao and Camiguin is our Christmas gift to Mindanao,” Suarez said.
Suarez also announced the opening of the Davao-Siargao- Davao flight via Cebu starting December 1.
PAL is also considering to open international flights from Davao connecting it to Japan, Korea, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and China between 2018 and 2020.
In an interview with Davao Today, City Tourism Officer Generose Tecson said the new domestic flights will bring in more opportunities for Davao City.
“It will provide more connectivity and we should be ready by creating more packages and exciting offers for tourists,” she said.(davaotoday.com)
