DAVAO CITY — The second day of the week-long Kadayawan sa Dabaw festival celebration highlighted the culture of the indigenous peoples in the opening of the “Tribuhanong Pasundayag” (cultural show) on Tuesday, August 16.

The cultural show will go on until Wednesday night at the Rizal Park.

The City Tourism Office Operations said the Kadayawan celebration is not only about thanksgiving for a bountiful harvest but also educating locals and tourists of Davao’s uniqueness.

“Kadayawan is not only about giving thanks for the bountiful harvest and for all that we have here. But it is also about educating ourselves, families, friends and our visitors about the cultures and tribes of our city that makes us beautifully unique,” said Generose Tecson, City Tourism Office Operations Officer.

This year’s celebration wants to focus on the highlighting the life and plights of the 11 tribes in Davao City — Kalagan or Kagan, Maguindanaon, Maranao, Iranum, Sama- Badjao, Tausog, Tagabawa, Ata, Ovu Manuvos, Matigsalog, and Klata-Guiangan. (davaotoday.com)
