DAVAO CITY – The Davao Light and Power Company (DLPC) announced that there will be no rotational brownouts during the upcoming four-week maintenance shutdown of the Unit 2 of Therma South Inc. (TSI) power plant in the city, on June 18 to July 6.
“Most likely, there will be no rotational brownouts within the franchise area of Davao Light and Power Company when TSI implements one-month preventive maintenance shutdown starting June 18, 2016,” Ross Luga, DLPC Assistant Vice President for Reputation Enhancement said on Wednesday, May 25 during the Habi at Kape at Abreeza Mall.
DLPC’s franchise areas include Davao, Panabo and the towns of Carmen, Sto. Tomas and Braulio Dujali.
Luga attributed this to the positive outlook in the “improving power supply” as expressed by the National Power Corporation-Power Sector Assets and Liabilities Management (NPC-PSALM) which operates the Agus-Pulangi Power Plant.
During the El Niño, production at the Agus-Pulangi Hydropower plants dropped to 108 megawatts out of the 982 megawatts.
With the rainy season, the current actual production is at 335 megawatts.
DLPC contracts 100 megawatts from the TSI; 50 megawatts from unit 1 and 50 megawatts from unit 2.(davaotoday.com)
