DAVAO CITY, Philippines – A morning Manila-Davao flight of Cebu Pacific on Thursday, October 12, was delayed for nearly two hours after ground personnel found there was a suspicious bag they could not immediately identify as safe.
The 5J 963 flight which supposedly departed from the Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Manila at 7:00 am had to be rescheduled for an additional security check.
Charo Lagamon, the spokesperson of the Gokongwei-led budget carrier, said an unattended bag was the cause of the said delay.
“The flight was delayed following a security check after an unidentified bag was loaded on the aircraft,” Lagamon said in a text message.
Security eventually determined the owner, said Lagamon, and explained the bag belonged to a passenger who was not able to arrive at the boarding gate on time.
The said flight arrived at the Francisco Bangoy International Airport here past 10 am, after it was rescheduled to depart from Manila at 8:30.
Meanwhile, the subsequent flight 5J 964 returning to Manila has been moved to 11:25 am, with a new estimated time of arrival at 1:15 pm.
Cebu Pacific asked for an apology, saying “the safety of our passengers is always our priority.” (davaotoday.com)
