12K Dabawenyos join National Clean-up Day

DAVAO CITY, Philippines – Around 12,000 residents here joined the simultaneous National Clean Up Day on September 17, a local official said.

In a dispatch by the City Information Office on Thursday, September 22, Engr. Elisa Madrazo, chief of City Environment and National Resources Office said participants of the clean up event helped in cleaning up streets and coastal villages.

Participants of the national clean-up day called “Bayan ko, Linis ko” came from national and local government agencies, non-government organizations, the private sector, barangays, academe and other civic groups.

Madrazo said the exact volume of garbage collected is still being determined but the clean-up drive produced a positive result.

The National Clean-Up Day was part of the activities lined up for the whole month of September that was declared National Clean-up Month based on Proclamation No. 244, Series of 1993.(davaotoday.com)
