DAVAO CITY—The city’s information technology (IT) sector is gearing up for the upcoming Innovation Month which aims to gather stakeholders and new ideas in a two-day event.
The event will feature Service as a Software (SaaS) entrepreneur camp, development convention and the International Marketing and Microfinancing Workshop. The activity will be held on December 3 to 4 at SM City Davao and will be free of charge.
The SaaS camp is a competition among qualified teams for compelling business prototypes. The winning team will be chosen by Winston Gamarillo, a Silicon Valley-based investor, who will provide the capital needed to operate the winning proposal.
The camp will also feature lectures and demonstrations of various SaaS-based business models.
The development convention is where IT professionals and students get to interact with each other in a series of activities like lightning talks and hackathon, among others.
Finally, the international marketing and microfinancing workshop is where participants are taught on how to market their IT products globally.
According to Mark Maglana, one of the organizers, participants can partake of pizza and beer and other freebies. He said they are simulating the usual IT geek gathering with the usual fare of pizza and beer as to stimulate an exchange of ideas.
