Philippines’s Gabriela: ‘We have nothing to apologize for’

Apr. 30, 2007

MANILA — We have nothing to apologize for. The OEA confidential memorandum exists and Malacaang is simply lying as it is known to do.

This was according to Rep. Liza Maza of GABRIELA Womens Party regarding the denial of the Office of the External Affairs of the validity of the memorandum on special concerns groups request for funding to support pro-administration party lists.

Maza also disputed Malacaangs claim that the document is fake because it bears no barcode. Our source says that the practice of barcodes does not apply to all Malacaang papers, especially if the memo is a confidential one.

According to Maza, the Arroyo presidency is founded on lies and denials. We expected this denial and their put-on indignation. President Arroyo and her underlings are compulsive liars especially when caught red-handed as in the case of this supposed illegal transaction between the OEA special concerns group and the Office of the President thru Atty. Erlyn de Leon.

Rep. Maza concluded, Gabriela, thus, will not apologize to any belly-aching administration front. With their integrity and motivations put into question, these partylist poseurs should consider backing out.
