TAGUM CITY – Some 1,500 soldiers will help secure the safety of athletes, sports officials and visitors during the hosting here of the 2015 Palarong Pambansa on May 3-9.
“Unlike the public perception, our region is generally peaceful because we are located in a metropolitan area”, said Davao del Norte Governor Rodolfo del Rosario.
Del Rosario made this statement following the signing of the memorandum of agreement between the Davao del Norte Province and the Department of Education earlier this month. The city governments of Tagum and Panabo of this province also signed the agreement.
“We are doing everything as all preparations are in full swing. But more importantly, are the support of the local government units in full coordination with the local chief executives,” Del Rosario told the reporters during the Tagum Biz Talk at Big 8 Hotel in this city.
Tagum City Mayor Allan Rellon and Panabo City Mayor James Gamao have expressed confidence and readiness of Davao del Norte’s hosting of 2015 Palarong Pambansa.
“The Palaro will spur economic activities in our province so we will show our visitors the best accommodation that we can offer to them,” Rellon said.
Rellon added that aside from the hotels in the city, at least 18 schools were being prepared to serve as the quarters of the delegates all throughout the duration of the activity.
Davao del Norte province bested out five other bidders – Dipolog City, Pagadian City, Koronadal City, Lanao del Norte province, and CARAGA region.
“Ang maganda sa Tagum ay mukhang handa na ang lahat. Hindi na kailangan pa ng dagdag na buwang preparasyon. I could sleep very well with the fact that the team that went around assured me that all the major facilities are already in place,” said DepEd Secretary Armin Luistro (davaotoday.com)
