3 minors, 98 others arrested in Davao’s latest anti-drug ops

DAVAO CITY, Philippines — A total of 101 individuals were arrested in Davao’s second “one-time, big-time” clearing operations in 36 villages here on Friday.

In a report by the Davao City Police Office, authorities conducted 88 buybust operations that started dawn of June 23 to serve search warrants and warrants of arrests to identified drug personalities and fugitives that are involved in the series of illegal activities connected with terrorism and other heinous crimes.

Two low powered firearms, two dynamites, a hand grenade and 222 grams of shabu and dried marijuana leaves worth P3.2 million were confiscated as result of the clearing operation.

Of the total 101 arrested individuals, 84 are male, 3 of which are minors and 17 females.

Arrested individuals are currently detained in different police stations for the filing of appropriate charges while persons with warrants of arrest will be presented to the issuing courts.

The first ‘one-time, big-time’ operation was conducted last May 19 with five persons killed and 65 suspected drug users were arrested.

The OTBT is the city’s anti-criminality and terrorism major clearing operation. Simultaneous police operations are conducted by different law enforcement agencies including Davao City Police Office, Task Force Davao, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, Regional drug Enforcement Unit, Regional Public Safety Battalion, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, Regional Maritime Command, Crime Lab Office XI, Highway Patrol Group and the Philippine Coast Guard.
