DAVAO CITY —- Job order employees at the city government here will get one month extension as city officials are still in a transition phase, Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte said on Monday, July 4.

Duterte, who is currently acting as City Mayor while Mayor Sara Duterte is on leave until July 22, said they extended the job order employees pending review while they are still in transition.

“We extended them for a month. We are still in a transition phase because of the turn of events. We were also busy for the inauguration of the President,” Duterte said. Duterte is the son of President Rodrigo Duterte.

Even the department heads of the agencies in the city government are yet to be named, he said.

“Give us time and we will start the review (of the job order employees),” Duterte said.

While the city officials are still in a transition phase, Duterte said all officials are still in “acting capacity” while some are Officer-in-Charge (OIC).

“They are all in acting capacity, some are OIC,” he said.

Duterte said that Atty. Dwight Domingo will still be the acting city administrator. He also refused to name who would probably be appointed as the city administrator because they have not yet talked to him.

He said they are also requesting an association of engineers in the city to recommend them names for the City Engineer’s office.

Duterte also said the post for assistant city administrator for operations previously held by Atty.Jhopee Avancena is still vacant. But he said Roy Rigor, from the City Planning and Development Office might be assigned to the post.

Meanwhile, he said Ivan Cortez from the Davao City Investment Promotions Center might be assigned to the CPDO.

The City is also looking for former military officers to head the City Transport and Traffic Management Office.

“Whatever we do, drivers are hard headed. So I am looking for an ex-military, most probably a retiree who is a graduate from the Philippine Military Academy because they are good at organization and discipline,” he said.

Dutere also said that they have a long list of names for the City Tourism Office. (davaotoday.com)
