MANILA — The Bayan Muna party list today said that the COMELEC list of party list nominees confirms the Arroyo administrations grand scheme to pack Congress with its own party list lackeys in order to thwart another impeachment complaint.
The list proves that indeed, Malacaang has resorted to undermining the entire party list system just to fulfill the Presidents selfish political agenda, Bayan Muna Rep. Teddy Casio said.
The solon said the involvement of the Presidents Office of External Affairs (OEA) opened a Pandoras box of problems, ranging from the use of public funds for pro-administration party lists, the maneuver of middle-level government officials to make themselves party list nominees, the sale of party list nominations and registrations, to the use of government personnel and facilities for pro-administration parties.
President Arroyos desperation to survive a third impeachment complaint is threatening to destroy the very essence of the party list system, Casio said.
Casio said they are set to file disqualification cases against individual nominees and their parties now that the information is available. Among their priorities would be former Maj. Gen. Jovito Palparan who is the first nominee of the Bantay party list. #
