DAVAO CITY, Philippines — Barangay Matina Crossing 74-A here has a new village chief after former Punong Barangay Atty. Angela Librado-Trinidad filed her resignation last week.
On her Facebook account on Thursday, September 21 Librado-Trinidad said her resignation was accepted by Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio on September 13.
“Effective September 14, 2017, I was no longer the Barangay Captain of Barangay Matina Crossing,” she said.
The former councilor said she intended her resignation to be “quick and quiet” to give way for the speedy transition of the administration to the new head Cindy Colina-Sy.
Librado-Trinidad who also serves as a member of the government peace panel in the negotiations with the National Democratic Front of the Philippines denied she will be taking national posts.
“(N)ews came out yesterday, bundled with speculations that I would be assuming posts I would never dream about simply BECAUSE I AM NOT QUALIFIED. I am humbled by your thoughts that I could assume such high posts, but for the record, NO, I am not taking any,” she wrote.
Her resignation came at the heels of the rejection of leftists Cabinet members of the administration by the Commission on Appointments including former Agrarian Reform Secretary Rafael Mariano and former Social Welfare and Development Secretary Judy Taguiwalo.
Recently, former Davao City Councilor and women’s rights activist Luzviminda Ilagan was appointed as Undersecretary of the DSWD.
Librado-Trinidad headed the village for four years.(davaotoday.com)
