AFP says ComVal polls peaceful; foreign observers see flaws

DAVAO CITY — The conduct of elections in Compostela Valley Province is relatively peaceful, said 1001st brigade commander Brig. Gen. Carlos Holganza despite the fact that the area has been placed under Comelec control.

Foreign observers, however, noted flaws in the elections in the province.

Philippines’s poll body to probe missing voters? names

MANILA — As it continues to receive complaints from people who failed to vote in Monday?s elections because their names were not on posted computerized voters? lists (PCVLs), the Commission on Elections (Comelec) created a committee to investigate these incidents.

At a press conference, Comelec chairman Benjamin Abalos said although the committee is yet to meet, ?this early I can tell you that we may have misprinted some names.?

Canvassing in Davao City going smoothly, although Cayetano case creates confusion

DAVAO CITY — The City Board of Canvassers (BOC) in this city has encountered no major problems so far in their second day of canvassing of election returns (ER).

As of 11 this morning, the BOC has received a total of 1,279 ERs from the Board of Election Inspectors (BEIs). The First District has delivered 542 ERs, while the Second and Third Districts have delivered 500 ERs and 237 ERs, respectively.
