DAVAO CITY – Around 200 farmers from Tarragona, Davao Oriental received a P2.3 million worth of rubber production project from the Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office 11, Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process and the provincial government.
The farmers, who belong to three organizations, received a total of 40,000 rubber seedlings, 1,100 bags of organic fertilizer, 200 bottles of organic foliar fertilizer, and 96 pieces of farming tools. The organizations include Ompao Muslim-Christian Cooperative (OMCC), Tomoaong United Lumad Association for Development (Tulad), and Ugbo Tubaon Mandaya Planters Association (UTMPA).
DA-Regional focal person for the Payapa at Masaganang PAmayanan (Pamana) program Enya Celoso said they hope to provide long-term and sustainable means of livelihood to the farmers in Tarragona.(davaotoday.com)
